Herbs and Fertility
Hello everyone!
So, as you know, herbs fascinate me. For small health issues, for illness, for nutrition, for food flavorings, for garden beauty, you name it.
My heart always goes out to those struggling with fertility. I know they are doing all they can to deal with their issues, and I ask Hashem--look, these people are willing to turn every aspect of their lives upside down to bear and raise Your precious children. Every parent knows there is no break to this job, ever! And here these people are willing and longing for this blessing. Please, Hashem, grant them children!
I recently “met” an herbalist in Eretz Yisroel, J. Rivkah Asoulin, who runs a couple of chats I'm on about plants and ancient healing. J. Rivkah gives plant walks. You can tell the herbs are her friends. She sees their beauty, their amazing qualities, and the Divine Providence in locating and using these wild-grown medicines. Besides for pioneering an international herb conference called Ancient Roots Israel and knowing hundreds of herbs like the back of her hand, I was thrilled to hear of her professional expertise… fertility!
Wow. So she gives workshops and also counsels women one-on-one. I was surprised to hear that herbs are actually not her first go-to to solve fertility problems. J. Rivkah help women figure out when their ovulation is. Once she and her client establish that, if still nothing happens, she has knowledge of Hashem’s wonderful herbs up her sleeve.
She told me apologetically that she has had so much success baruch Hashem and was spending so much time counseling that she has had to start charging for her work.
“Of course!” I told her. And I don't think that detracts from her mitzvah one drop. In fact, it helps support her family so she can continue helping others create their own families! What is $500 (more or less, depending on details)-- a large grocery trip (or two)? That price is really nothing if there’s a chance to soon be holding the cutest bundle in the world! Plus, without side effects and huge medical bills.
I am so proud to know J. Rivkah, and I encourage anyone who knows someone struggling to conceive to please reach out to them and encourage them to sign up for a consultation with her. (Obviously with sensitivity and only if you are close enough and comfortable enough with your friend or relative to “meddle”.)
J. Rivkah’s email address is wisewomanfertility@gmail.com. Also browse her two websites, wisewomanfertility.blogspot.com and ancientrootsisrael.com.
I spoke to someone who went through secondary infertility and consulted with J. Rivkah. Here’s what she told me:
“I had a son and then five years later by a miracle I had another one (because it’s hard for me to conceive). Another four years passed and I really wanted another child. I’m not a candidate for Western intervention because of my liver condition and it wasn’t worth the associated risks for me. I had already known Rivkah for years, and when she started doing this, I asked her to help me. She said Yes! I had really short cycles, so in my case, we started with herbs to try to strengthen me and regulate me. After herbs we started the Fertility Awareness Method and after one cycle I was pregnant. After years of nothing, boom. It was yeshuas hashem kiheref ayin. She’s very intuitive and plays extremely close attention to what the client says and even hears what is not being said. Using completely different methods she helped a friend of mine with becoming pregnant. They didn't believe it was possible because what’s a few herbs? And it took only a few short months for her to become pregnant. (With my friend, a completely different herb was the solution.) I feel so lucky to have my last child. I love all of my children but having her was such a gift. I'm so happy that I made the call. Without Rivkah (and of course Hashem!) she probably wouldn't exist. There’s a big gap between her and the child above her. Rivkah is incredible. She’s so sharp and with-it, and extremely candid, not afraid of this stuff. She gets you to open up about things that are a little bit private and personal but necessary to know in order to work with you. She makes you feel safe. I was sad when she went on a hiatus but she had to take care of her family. Since she continued counseling I'm so thrilled because it means more babies can be born, with Hashem’s help.” --Name Not Disclosed
May we all be blessed with this week’s promise from the Parsha of Vayera, where Hashem told Avraham, our forefather, “:...that I shall surely bless you and greatly increase your offspring like the stars of the heavens and like the sand on the seashore... And all the nations of the earth shall bless themselves by your offspring because you have listened to My voice.”
Avraham and Sara were 100 and 90 years old respectively, and yet they still had a child. May all who need, have healthy children! The key is to raise that child in the path of Hashem so that he or she can in turn lead more generations down a holy and righteous path. That is the way to enhance the whole beautiful world.
